Yus, to go alongside my special Green Hill Desktop is this new Scrap Brain piece. Now for teh explaination.
The platform directly in front of you has the big blue button followed by the spinner from the actual level. In fact, apart from the imagery on the 'front' side, it's been modelled faithfully from that scene. Above the hazard stripes are two terminal shafts which are again faithful reconstructions from the original level's imagery (There is an exact replica of these two vents to the immediate left backdrop of the picture). The most intriguing one was working out what the right hand vent would be, so I used the art of Automata to create a working mechnical cog system, which would work if built for real. Tho what a cog system would work with a CPU is beyond me XP Unless the CPU is controlling the mechanical enertia initiator, or is the initiator itself. Anyway;
To the right we have Scrap Brain Act 1, the exterior of Eggman's base of operations complete with those foldout platforms and the bridge-like platforms at the peak of the shaft. To the left we have Scrap Brain Act 2, the interior of the base complete with spiked pendulum above a travelator, electrode-orbs and backdrop details and shapes reminiscent of the original level design.
For those whom are somewhat fascinated by colour count, there's only 55 colours in this entire piece. All of it made from scratch on Microsoft Paint, and detailed using the pencil tool. As you can imagine, it took a little while XP
I like this piece. There are a couple of things I spot wrong looking back at it, however they're minor compared to some of the successes. I like the amount of detail I got, and the textures I managed to create with a somewhat low colour count (This is actually less than my usual portrait images for colour count, though not by much, and consider this IS 1024 x 768 pixels in size).
Free for your own private use as a desktop, however it's not for editting, stealing and any other breaking of mah copyright and shit.
Scrap Brain Zone is copyright to SEGA and Sonic Team Wallpaper and all artwork within is copyright to Roareye 'Rory Joscelyne' Black
Glad you like it ^_^ Strangely I prefer the style of Act 2's background but Act 1 made for a more interesting background to look at after several viewings, which basically balances them out in my eyes lol
Hope you look forward to the upcoming complete version of Gimmick Mountain ^_^

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
